Speaking in his pre-match press conference Ryan Mason has admitted that Ben Davies’ season may now be over.
The left-back has been missing due to injury for quite some time now, and Mason has made it clear that he’s not likely to be back before the end of the season.
The Wales international is yet to play a single game since Jose Mourinho’s departure, and with Mason time as interim boss set to end later this month, it’s likely that Davies will never actually get to play under the 29-year-old.
“No change. Ben [Davies] is the only one who hasn’t trained. He still hasn’t trained. To be honest, I’ll be surprised if he’s in contention for any of our three remaining fixtures but everyone else has trained this week,” Mason said.
Things don’t sound good for Davies, and it sounds as though he won’t be back until next season.
Luckily for Tottenham, Sergio Reguilon has been their first-choice left-back for the majority of the season, so Davies may not be missed too much.
Sadly, the same can’t be said for the Welsh national team, and for their sake we have to hope that the full-back is back fit and firing in time for the Euros.
By the time Davies is ready to play another game for Tottenham, the London club will likely have a new manager in charge.
