Yerry Mina has urged his Everton teammates on Instagram to be ‘self-critical‘ after they suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday.
Everton produced a lacklustre display at St Mary’s as Southampton recorded a 2-0 win, with both goals coming in the first half.
Before a ball was kicked, every Everton supporter, including those on the pitch and on the sidelines, would have taken the start that they have had.
But Mina shared his thoughts on Instagram after yesterday’s game and he was brutally honest in how things went and what needs to happen.
He said: “We didn’t get things the way we wanted. We have to be self-critical and learn from mistakes. We keep fighting in the hand of God. #UpTheToffees
The real test for Everton starts now because it will be interesting to see how they react to a defeat and just how far they can go this season.
Everton are still sitting at the top of the Premier League table and that can be extended if they beat Newcastle United on Sunday.
There’s no doubt that this is a winnable game for those on Merseyside, and if they do bounce back with a win, then it’ll say a lot about what Carlo Ancelotti can do with this group of players this season.
