Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Steven Gerrard would be open to taking the Leeds United managerial role and would want to open talks with the Premier League club.
However, the well-known and well-respected journalist has said that the former Rangers and Aston Villa manager would have to be cautious about replacing Jesse Marsch at Leeds United.
Jones has noted that not all Leeds fans would immediately get behind the Liverpool legend.
While Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title during his spell at Rangers, the former England international midfielder was sacked by Villa earlier this season when the Villans looked like they were going to get involved in a relegation fight.
Villa have since improved a lot under former Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery and could finish the season in the top half of the Premier League table.
The Mirror and The Daily Mail both have claimed that Leeds are looking at Gerrard as a potential candidate to replace Marsch with.

The American boss, who could now become the new Southampton manager, was sacked by Leeds last week.
The West Yorkshire club are in dire form at the moment and could get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Dean Jones on Steven Gerrard to Leeds United
Jones said: “I think he’d be open to hearing about it and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t. But he’d have to be cautious about how much he genuinely believes he could turn things around.
“Because the support isn’t going to be automatically behind Steven Gerrard. There are going to be some supporters that wouldn’t want him leading their club.”
