BBC pundit Garth Crooks has been discussing Liverpool in his Team of the Week segment, and he has some words of warning for Mohamed Salah.
In regards to one second-half incident, Crooks wrote: ‘When the ball came to Mohamed Salah with Mane well placed alongside him the Egypt international chose to go it alone and hit the post.
‘When Mane politely protested, Salah gesticulated that he had to go for the shot. No he didn’t. A pass to Mane and Liverpool would have gone 3-1 up. Salah needs to be careful, I’ve seen him sacrifice his team-mate before for glory. ‘

Crooks is right – Mohamed Salah does need to be careful.
Liverpool fans will remember the Egyptian’s greed infuriating Sadio Mane in an away win over Burnley last season.
The Senegal international could be seen complaining on the bench after being substituted, with Jurgen Klopp telling the BBC after full-time that it was ‘good’ to see the ex-Southampton forward react like that.
‘But it’s good eh? He was upset, it was obvious.’

After that incident, the last thing Salah will want to do is reopen an old wound by continuing to ignore Mane when he’s better placed to finish.
The passage of play Crooks is referring to happened in the 82nd minute, according to The Guardian‘s live blog of the match.
Salah impressively turned John Egan to put himself one-on-one with Aaron Ramsdale, but could only hit the post with a dinked effort.

However, Mane was stood all alone to the left of the former Chelsea forward and would’ve had an open goal if he had been passed to.
The pair simply love scoring goals, that much is obvious.
Having said that, they must notice when one of them is better placed to finish. If Sheffield United had found a late equaliser, this incident might’ve been under the spotlight more.
