Can Liverpool hang onto Mohamed Salah?

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool celebrates scoring his side's fourth goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Watford at Anfield on March 17, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he fears Mohamed Salah is playing so well that he will be signed by Real Madrid.

Salah scored four goals at the weekend against Watford to take his tally for the season to 28 in 30 Premier League games.

It is a truly tremendous season whatever happens from this point forward and the plaudits keep on coming for the winger.

Crooks of course selected Salah in his team of the weekend, before warning he could go the way of Gareth Bale, and get snapped up by Real Madrid.

He told BBC Sport: “Liverpool fans may have to brace themselves, however, for an audacious bid from Real Madrid in the summer.

“This lad is having the same impact across Europe as Gareth Bale had in his final season at Tottenham. And we all know what happened after that.”

Salah has already exceeded Bale’s tally from his 2012/13 campaign, which saw him score 21 in 33 Premier League games.

He has gone onto win three Champions League titles with Real Madrid, which is an obvious selling point for the Spaniards.

But unlike the Welshman when he left Spurs, Salah is in his first season at Liverpool and will be much harder to tempt away.

Liverpool have already sold one major star to Spain in 2018, letting Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona. They must not make it two, whatever the price.
