Garth Crooks says this can be a very strong season for Tottenham Hotspur.
Garth Crooks has hailed Tottenham’s ability to keep hold of defender Toby Alderweireld and urged them to push on with their summer transfer business.
Spurs have not signed any players this summer but showed at the weekend they are as strong as ever, beating Newcastle 2-0 at St James Park.

Danny Rose caused a stir last week by criticising the club’s pay structure, and Crooks believes now is the time for the club to deliver in the transfer market.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “In the absence of marquee signings at Tottenham this summer, it must come as a relief to many that they have retained the services of the Belgium international.
“Danny Rose may have been forced to apologise for his remarks regarding a lack of summer spending at the club and I have some sympathy with his position. The transfer window is not yet closed but the point has been made.
“If, as media reports suggest, Spurs are to spend something in the region of £85m during the next couple of weeks, then it could be another impressive season for them.”

The deals to which Crooks refers is a reported triple swoop claimed by the Star, for centre-back Davinson Sanchez, right-back Joao Cancelo, and midfielder Ross Barkley.
Of the trio, the one needed the least is Valencia right-back Cancelo after Kyle Walker-Peters’ impressive performance against Newcastle at the weekend, showing he can be relied upon to replace the injured Kieran Trippier.
New faces at Tottenham will lift player and fan morale, and could be the difference between them finishing as champions and missing out once again.
