Former Ibrox winger Neil McCann suggested on BBC Sport (7:40pm, August 6, 2020) that Alfredo Morelos may not play for Rangers again.

McCann, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, made the comments about Morelos while watching him in action for Rangers in their Europa League Round of 16 second-leg tie against Bayer Leverkusen away from home in Germany on Thursday evening.

Stats

The Colombia international striker started the match and played for 77 minutes, as Steven Gerrard’s side lost 1-0 to go out 4-1 on aggregate.

The 24-year-old had a very good chance early on, and his hold-up play as the game went on left much to be deserved.

According to WhoScored, Morelos did not take any shot or play any key pass, had a pass accuracy of 58.3%, and took 25 touches.

Future

The Daily Record reported last month that Lille are ready to make a second bid of £17 million for the Colombia international, with the player having already agreed personal terms with the French club.

Former Rangers winger McCann, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, believes that Morelos may have played his last match for the Gers.

McCann said on BBC Sport (7:40pm, August 6, 2020): “Two strikers are not being brought into Ibrox for nothing. A few quid has been spent there.

“Alfredo Morelos’ attitude to the job here has been found wanting. Maybe it’s time for a deal to be done.

“It’s a shame because as a player and a goalscorer he’s got it, but maybe that’s the last time we will see him.”
