Noel Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (10:24pm, November 2, 2020) that Leeds United attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez will be upset at Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to take him off against Leicester City.

The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, said that Hernandez was playing well when head coach Bielsa decision to take him off.

Hernandez, who can also operate as a winger, started the Premier League match between Leeds and Leicester at Elland Road on Monday evening.

However, Bielsa decided to substitute the veteran in the 67th minute, with Tyler Roberts coming on in his place.

As reported by Leeds Live, the former Valencia and Swansea City star kicked a bottle in frustration after being replaced.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (10:24pm, November 2, 2020): “I thought Pablo was kind of getting on the ball, dictating the play. I do believe that we lost a little bit of momentum when he took him off.

“I can imagine him being upset because he probably felt he was getting on the ball a lot, trying to make things happen and being affective out there in a positive way.”

How did Pablo Hernandez play?

Hernandez started the match due to the absence of Rodrigo, who is self-isolating, and he did do well overall.

The Spaniard linked up well, sprayed some good passes, and tried to make things happen.

It was not the best of performances from the 35-year-old, but Hernandez did show creativity.

According to WhoScored, the Spaniard took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 79.5%, took 66 touches, attempted two dribbles, made one tackle, and put in three crosses.
