Garth Crooks has praised Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison for his performance against Sheffield United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur got the better of Sheffield United 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs had to come from a goal down to pick up all three points from the Premier League match in North London.

Richarlison did not start the match.

The forward came on as a substitute.

And he played a big role in the win for Spurs.

Richarlison scored a goal and provided the assist for the other.

And former Spurs forward Garth Crooks was impressed.

Crooks has included Richarlison in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The BBC Sport pundit has said that he was previously critical of Richarlison, but he believes that the forward has changed now.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison

Crooks wrote about Richarlison on BBC Sport: “A goal and an assist from a player who has clearly been struggling with his form since he joined Spurs changed the game against Sheffield United.

“The movement by Richarlison for his headed equaliser was quite brilliant but it was his unselfishness and ability to pick out the pass for Dejan Kulusevski to score once inside the penalty area that won Tottenham the match.

“This is a player I have previously criticised. I have, in the past, found his antics rather juvenile.

“However, to have played in midweek for his country, returned on time to play for his club amid suggestions about the state of his mental health, come on as substitute and had such an impact on a match speaks volumes about the Brazilian’s strength and courage. Long may it continue.”

Richarlison could now explode at Tottenham Hotspur

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur could now see the best of Richarlison.

The forward has been off his game for a while now.

But, having scored a goal and provided an assist for Spurs this past weekend, his confidence will be very high now.

We think that if Richarlison gets a goal or gives an assist or two in the next two or three games, then the floodgates could open for him.

The Brazilian has made 205 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Richarlison has scored 50 goals and given 20 assists in those games.
