Garth Crooks has suggested to BBC Sport that Liverpool should consider signing Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips bossed the game for Leeds against Everton at the weekend, with his passing range and defensive discipline on full display.
And Crooks now believes that Phillips could well be the ideal replacement for Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, at both club and international level.
“Leeds missed Kalvin Phillips against Leicester and Crystal Palace, but not against Everton,” Crooks said.
“The England international is making a name for himself, and was far too sharp for the Toffees.
“This kid reminds me of a young Bryan Robson, when the former Manchester United and England captain played for West Brom. Phillips can cover the ground, he’s not afraid to stick his foot in, and sees the pass.

“He doesn’t immediately grab your attention but given time you begin to realise the enormous contribution he’s making to the game.
“I think he’s the perfect replacement for Jordan Henderson and I don’t mean just for England.”
If Liverpool were to make an attempt to sign Phillips they would surely find themselves having to pay a huge fee.
Phillips has developed into Leeds’ talisman, and his importance has been highlighted this term.
With the 24-year-old injured, Leeds badly struggled for form and were beaten 4-1 in consecutive games.
However, since he has returned, Leeds have been much stronger – and have now dominated games against Arsenal and Everton in their last two outings.
Leeds’ win at Goodison Park has pushed them up to 12th in the Premier League table, after taking 14 points from 10 games.
