Garth Crooks has raved about Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for his performance against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Anfield in the Premier League this past weekend.
Liverpool got the better of Aston Villa 3-0 at home in the league on Sunday.
Dominik Szoboszlai started the match and scored in the third minute.
And former Tottenham Hotspur forward and BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks was impressed.
Crooks has included the 22-year-old Hungary international midfielder in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.
Praise for Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai vs Aston Villa
The BBC Sport pundit has noted the attributes that make Szoboszlai such an important player already for Liverpool.
Szoboszlai joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Crooks wrote about Szoboszlai on BBC Sport: “The technique that enabled his strike against Aston Villa was nothing short of fantastic and matched only by his ability to close the opposition down and deny them space when the ball wasn’t at his feet.
“His willingness to cover the ground is impressive and very much required in light of Jordan Henderson’s departure to the Saudi Pro League.

“It’s the second time this season Szoboszlai has made my team selection.
“When the Hungary international arrived at Anfield I said he had big shoes to fill.
“Well, he looks like a player who is enjoying the challenge.
“He was equally impressive in that epic battle at Newcastle last week and stayed the course – and it looks like Liverpool have bought wisely here.”
Szoboszlai has hit the ground running at Liverpool and has already made himself a key figure in manager Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
The 22-year-old Hungary international has scored one goal in four Premier League matches for Liverpool so far this season.
Although Szoboszlai is an attacking midfielder, he does help out defensively, works very hard off the ball, and is also willing to press the opposition.
It’s still early days, of course, but the signs are that Szoboszlai is a gem and that Liverpool are a better team with him in it.
Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
For the Reds to be successful in that quest, Szoboszlai will have to be on top of his game throughout.
