Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko waits to come on as a substitute

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy does not seem to be a fan of Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela. Murphy has suggested that neither Sissoko nor Lamela is good enough for Tottenham.

The former England international believes that the two midfielders cannot be compared to those at Manchester City, Arsenal or Chelsea. Murphy has also claimed that Spurs are missing a creative player.

“Tottenham actually have a similar problem because, behind Kane, I still feel they are missing the kind of high-end quality creative player their rivals have got,” Murphy told BBC Sport.

“I rate Christian Eriksen and Alli but Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela do not really compare to the options at City, Arsenal or Chelsea.”

Sissoko joined Tottenham from Newcastle in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £30 million.

The 27-year-old midfielder is struggling to play regularly for the North London outfit and is largely a substitute player at the moment.

The France international has created 16 chances in 16 Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season.

Lamela, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has scored one goal and created 18 chances in nine league matches for Spurs so far this season.

The Argentina international attacker has struggled with injuries this campaign, and that has played a role in limiting his playing time.
