Mark Lawrenson has suggested that he thinks Alisson has been playing for Liverpool despite not being fully fit, as per his comments on BBC Sport.

Alisson came under fire for his performance for Liverpool against Manchester City last time out, as he made some uncharacteristic errors during the contest.

Alisson gave the ball away twice during City’s 4-1 victory at Anfield, and he was made to pay both times, with Pep Guardiola’s side going on to score.

The Liverpool goalkeeper is usually so reliable, but errors have just started creeping into his game.

And Lawrenson believes that the former Roma man may be playing through the pain for his side.

“Liverpool were already out of the FA Cup, so they have had the week off to regroup after what happened against Manchester City. It should do them some good, because they looked weary in that game, and I don’t think goalkeeper Alisson, who made two big mistakes, was fully fit for it,” he said.

Alisson has been prone to picking up niggling injuries throughout his time at Liverpool, but it is not thought that he is carrying a problem at the moment.

The 28-year-old simply seems to be out of form, like many of Liverpool’s players.

The Reds are next in action in the early kick off tomorrow, when they take on Leicester City.
