BBC pundit suggests absence of Stuart Dallas is a problem for Leeds

Stuart Dallas could miss Leeds United’s Championship game against Derby County this afternoon.

Noel Whelan suggested on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, October 14, 2016) that the absence of Stuart Dallas against Derby County could be a problem for Leeds United.

Leeds will return to action after the international break on Saturday afternoon when they take on Derby away from home at the iPro Stadium in the Championship.

The West Yorkshire outfit will head into the match on the back of a 2-1 victory over Barnsley at Elland Road in the league.

Dallas could miss the match for Leeds, as the 25-year-old winger picked up an injury during international duty with Northern Ireland.

The Yorkshire Evening Post recently quoted Leeds manager Garry Monk as saying that the 25-year-old is doubtful with a thigh problem.

Former Leeds striker Whelan has suggested that this is a problem for the Whites, as neither Alex Mowatt nor Kemar Roofe is as good as Dallas on the wing.

“Well, that’s the problem, isn’t it?” said Whelan on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, October 14, 2016) when asked who should replace Dallas.

“I mean, we have seen Mowatt play out there, wide left, and it doesn’t really work. Roofe, not really firing on all cylinders just yet.

“I am not so sure who would go out there on the left-hand side. It’s a tricky one because I just think Dallas has been doing so well.”

Leeds are 11th in the Championship table at the moment with 16 points from 11 matches, just four points behind sixth-placed Birmingham City.
