Leeds United made it back-to-back wins in the Championship on Friday evening. Leeds got the better of Birmingham City 3-1 away from home at St. Andrew’s in the league.

The West Yorkshire outfit headed into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road in the league.

Chris Wood was the star of the show for the Whites, as the New Zealand international striker scored twice.

Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Sport, and he was not too impressed with the performance of Pablo Hernandez.

Hernandez, who is 31 years of age and can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, started the game and played for 82 minutes.

“I think it’s more Hernandez’s away form that is the concern,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “Tonight, it just didn’t seem to click for him.

“I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing, but he was still brave and asking for the ball, even though he wasn’t having the best game – that’s all you can ask for.

“I know his creative side brings so much to the party, but I would like to see him challenging for the ball more – you need that from everyone when games are getting physical.”

Hernandez is a good player and has established himself as a key figure in the current Leeds team. The former Valencia and Swansea City attacking midfielder is playing well this season and will be importance in the team’s quest to finish in the top six of the Championship.

Garry Monk’s side are fourth in the Championship table at the moment with 64 points from 35 matches.
