Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks has suggested on BBC Sport that West Ham United could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
West Ham are not playing well in the Premier League at the moment and are struggling for points.
The Hammers are currently third from bottom in the league table with just three points from five matches.
The London outfit suffered a defeat at the weekend, going down 4-2 to West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Former Tottenham and West Brom forward Crooks has suggested that if West Ham continue to concede goals like they did at the weekend, then they could be playing Championship football at the London Stadium next season.
“Meanwhile, Slaven Bilic has problems,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “If he can’t stop his team haemorrhaging goals they could soon be playing Championship football in that lovely new stadium of theirs.”
The way West Ham have been conceding goals this season should be a concern, but it is premature to suggest that they could be struggling for survival in the Premier League.
Manager Slaven Bilic needs to work on his defence, and he will get it right eventually.
There are worse teams than West Ham in the Premier League, and the club’s fans should not worry about playing in the Championship next season at all.
