Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton said on the BBC Radio 5live 606 show on Saturday evening (September 10, 2016) that Rangers manager Mark Warburton is under pressure.

Sutton made the comment following Rangers’ embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Not many Scottish football followers will have expected Rangers to win against Celtic, but the way the Gers collapsed in the Old Firm derby was a surprise.

Former Celtic striker Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, believes that the defeat to the Bhoys has put pressure on Warburton even so early in the season.

“It was an incredible game,” said Sutton on the BBC Radio 5live 606 show on Saturday evening (September 10, 2016).

“Not a great surprise to me. Mark Warburton, under pressure, even at this early stage for Rangers. He needs to make changes.”

Being the manager of Rangers is not easy, and there is pressure all the time.

However, it is hard to believe that the Gers board will make drastic changes due to the defeat to Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

Celtic are favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, and the Rangers chiefs will have recognised that weeks earlier.

The pressure on Warburton now is to make sure that Rangers bounce back from the defeat to the Bhoys.

The former Brentford boss should not worry about losing his managerial job at Rangers anytime soon.
