Manchester United boss said Zlatan is undroppable.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his fantastic scoring run by netting a brace to lead the Red Devils to a win over West Brom.
The Swedish superstar helped Manchester United to a 2-0 win at the Hawthorns, a stadium where they were beaten by the hosts last season.
He is in superb form, netting 10 goals in his last nine games in all competitions for United.
Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic celebrates scoring their second goal
His performance saw him named by BBC pundit Garth Crooks into his ‘team of the week’, but the former player had a warning, based on comments made after the game by manager Jose Mourinho.
He told BBC Sport: “So, according to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, Ibrahimovic is undroppable? Well I have heard that before and the remark may come back to haunt him.”
Crooks went on to add that he feels United have a real lack of depth behind Zlatan, and they could suffer if he misses time.
He said: “United are beginning to find a rhythm and putting a run together, but should anything happen to Ibrahimovic they will soon be back in the mire.”
Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford applaud fans after the game
United are in sixth position but are putting the pressure on their rivals, with Arsenal dropping more points this weekend.
Ibrahimovic has 16 goals in all competitions for United this season but beyond that there is a big drop off, with Juan Mata and Paul Pogba with five each.
Marcus Rashford has four for the season, as does Anthony Martial, while Wayne Rooney has three.
If any of them can step up and start scoring regularly, only then will Mourinho’s assertion that Ibrahimovic is undroppable, be challenged.
