Don Hutchison has claimed that Tottenham and Arsenal should have appointed Graham Potter as their boss, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The former midfielder stated that he is a ‘terrific’ coach that ‘out possessed’ Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola last season.
Whilst Arsenal opted against replacing the under-fire Mikel Arteta last season, Spurs didn’t hesitate in sacking Jose Mourinho and then replacing him with Nuno Espirito Santo.
Of course, anything could happen to Arteta yet because those back-to-back wins don’t get him out of the hole he is currently in.
The same applies for Nuno, who is already feeling the heat five games in and now a North London derby awaits the duo on Sunday.
But Hutchison thinks Potter should have been the one to be donning either touchline this season because he is worthy of coaching at a higher level.
“I think he is the manager Tottenham or Arsenal should have went for, Graham Potter,” said Hutchison. “I see a terrific coach.
“I see him working on the training ground every day improving players. He has forward players, he does the work and they play great football.
“They out-possessed Man City and Guardiola, which was last season that not many teams do.
“I see a coach who can go to a top-six side. I am not trying to get him away from Brighton, right now.”

Before a ball was kicked this season, many expected the Premier League title race to be between four teams – both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Well, all of those teams have started the new campaign in a strong fashion, and they would have been sitting in a straight line had it not been for one team.
Chelsea are sitting top of the Premier League table on 13 points, level with Liverpool and third-placed Manchester United.
But it’s Graham Potter’s Brighton who, five games in, occupy that fourth-placed- spot, as they are spoiling the early party.
