Garth Crooks has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on BBC Sport, but he has still snubbed him for Ederson of Manchester City in his Premier League Team of the Season.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has praised Alisson for his brilliant headed goal during Liverpool’s win against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
Crooks has said that he thought about including the Brazil international goalkeeper in his Premier League Team of the Season, but he decided to go with City’s Ederson instead.
The Englishman wrote on BBC Sport: “I thought about selecting Alisson in my team for his superbly taken headed goal against West Brom that practically saved Liverpool’s entire season.
“Then there was Kasper Schmeichel, who produced the most amazing FA Cup final performance. Both keepers have, in their own special way, done something quite extraordinary.
“However, nothing compares to winning a Premier League title – a fact both Alisson and Schmeichel will no doubt acknowledge – which is why Ederson gets my selection.
“The Manchester City keeper has also kept the highest number of clean sheets, which means he wins this season’s Golden Glove award.”
Alisson has been superb for Liverpool in recent weeks.
The former AS Roma star was brilliant between the posts, and that headed goal in the final moments of the game against West Brom did really prove to be crucial in the end.
However, Alisson did make costly errors earlier in the season, like the ones against Manchester City.
City have won the Premier League title this season, and one of the reasons behind that is Ederson.
The Brazil international has been stunning between the posts, and some of the passes he has played are stunning.
Alisson is still a world-class goalkeeper, and he will be determined to get back to his best next season.
Liverpool have finished in the Premier League top four, and the Reds will feel that they have somehow salvaged their season.
