Garth Crooks has claimed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has a ‘bright future’ at Liverpool after his ‘outstanding’ assist against Brighton, as he told Final Score.

Liverpool recorded a 2-2 draw against Graham Potter’s men at Anfield on Saturday afternoon – the away side came from 2-0 down to secure a deserved point.

Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t start the game, but he came on for Naby Keita after 19 minutes after an injury to the in-form player.

And in less than ten minutes, Oxlade-Chamberlain whipped in an impressive cross which was met by Sadio Mane that doubled the home team’s lead.

Crooks hailed the ‘wonderful’ ball from the 28-year-old and how he might now get a run of games.

“It was a superb ball,” said Crooks. “A wonderful ball. It was outstanding.

“It’s a chance for Alex to come in, who has had a difficult time since his injuries. Perhaps he might have a run of two or three games.

“They need him now because they have injury issues. If he can start playing balls like that then he can have a bright future at that football club.”

A number of Liverpool midfielders have produced strong performances this season, but one issue or another, has come in their way.

Harvey Elliott started the campaign in a strong fashion and now he is in the treatment room after suffering a long-term injury.

Curtis Jones has also put impressive displays in the middle of the park, whilst this has been Keita’s strongest start to life on Merseyside.

But, unfortunately for him, he suffered his own setback, which doesn’t help his cause because there are spots available in that midfield.

Gini Wijnaldum’s departure this summer opened that door, added with Fabinho’s recent injury, although no-one will get ahead of him when he returns, as Thiago is also out of action.

As for Oxlade-Chamberlain, this is another important 12 months of his Anfield career because it hasn’t been easy for him for a long while now.
