West Bromwich Albion have been linked with Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor in the January transfer window.

Noel Whelan has told BBC Sport (17:30) that Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor is in a difficult position.

Taylor is one of the best players in the current Leeds team and is one of the left-backs in the Championship.

The 23-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has been linked with a move away from the West Yorkshire outfit in the January transfer window.

According to a recent report in The Sun, Premier League club West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Taylor.

The British tabloid has reported that West Brom manager Tony Pulis is close to agreeing a deal for the former England Under-19 international.

Former Leeds striker Whelan has stated that Taylor is in a difficult position.

“Taylor’s been brought up with a box-to-box mentality but he’s been mixed this year,” Whelan told BBC Sport (17:30).

“But there’s a lot of pressure on him – he’s putting the effort in despite what people say, but he’s in a difficult position with the speculation about his contract, and it will be hard for him.”

Taylor has featured in 21 Championship matches for Leeds so far this season, creating 12 chances in the process.

Garry Monk’s side are fifth in the league table at the moment with 45 points from 25 matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action next week when they take on Cambridge United away from home in the third round of the FA Cup.
