Noel Whelan praised Leeds United winger Jack Harrison on BBC Radio Leeds (10:09pm, October 23, 2020) and said that he felt sorry for Aston Villa full-back Matty Cash.
The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, was impressed with the display produced by Harrison during the Whites’ 3-0 win against Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Whelan believes that the 23-year-old, who can operate as a winger or an attacking midfielder and is on loan from Manchester City, ran 23-year-old Cash ragged.
Harrison was a constant threat down his side, and Cash had a disappointing game overall, although the former Nottingham Forest star – who can also operate as a winger – did work hard.
Whelan said about Harrison on BBC Radio Leeds (10:09pm, October 23, 2020): “He was incredible. The amount of work-rate that he put in, not just going back, the way he terrorised them on the left-hand side, taking him on time and time again.
“I don’t think I have ever seen Matty Cash never actually get really into the opposition’s half or even get close into the 18-yard box to not go and attack.
“He was that worked defensively by Harrison and Alioski that it was one-sided. I felt sorry for him at one point because he just kept coming down this left-hand side.”
Stats
According to WhoScored, Harrison took two shots of which one was on target, played five key passes, had a pass accuracy of 80.6%, took 58 touches, attempted one dribble, made two tackles and one clearance, and put in five crosses.
Cash had a pass accuracy of 78.3%, won one header, took 49 touches, and made five tackles, four interceptions and three clearances, according to WhoScored.
