Mark Lawrenson has heralded the coaching of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds were named champions of England this week for the first time in 30 years and Klopp is quite rightly getting so much of the plaudits.
He joined Liverpool in 2015 as Brendan Rodgers’s replacement and the team have been steadily improving ever since.
So much of the Anfield club’s success is down to the recruitment of Director of Football Michael Edwards, but the signings have only integrated so well because of Klopp’s coaching.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach invariably improves players, taking them to a new level in terms of performance, but Lawrenson has singled out one player who hasn’t progressed all that much.
Liverpool signed goalkeeper Loris Karius in 2016 but despite a decent few years on Merseyside, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Besiktas.
The 27-year-old made two massive errors in a Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid in Kiev two years ago and, speaking to BBC Sport, Lawrenson says he’s the only signing who hasn’t made it under Klopp.
He said: “Of all the players that he’s bought, I can’t remember him buying one that’s not made it. And all the players that he’s got, he’s made them better. Karius is the only one, but he’s made all of the rest better.
“Wherever you’re manager, if you make all of the players better – and they are already very, very good – you’re doing a heck of a job.”
