The former Tottenham forward, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has included Calvert-Lewin in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.
The 23-year-old striker scored in the 55th minute to help the Toffees to a 1-0 victory over Spurs away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this past Sunday.
Crooks has spoken highly of the youngster, and he believes that the 2020-21 campaign could be defining for him.
Crooks wrote about Calvert-Lewin on BBC Sport: “The header by Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Tottenham was worthy of winning any match. In fact it was so good, that any further consideration to include Jamie Vardy or Callum Wilson in my team of the week was suddenly out of the question.
“Under Carlo Ancelotti, this lad is getting better with every game. It could be a defining season for the young Evertonian. He has all the elements to make a top-class striker. If he can stay fit, which invariably means looking after himself, he can be whatever he wants.”
Starting to turn on the style
Calvert-Lewin has been superb for Everton under manager Carlo Ancelotti and is banging in the goals regularly.
During the 2019-20 campaign, the Englishman scored 13 goals and provided one assist in 36 Premier League matches for the Toffees, according to WhoScored.
The striker has established himself as an important player in the Everton team under Ancelotti, and having started the new season with a goal, he will be determined to take his game to the next level.
The Toffees will be aiming to break into the top six of the Premier League table this season.
