Pundit Leon Osman has heaped praise on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez after seeing his performance against Aston Villa this afternoon.

Darwin Nunez impressed pundit Leon Osman this afternoon as Liverpool ran out as clear winners over Aston Villa at Anfield.

The Reds were easily the better side against Unai Emery’s men as Dominik Szoboszlai fired home a superb opening goal.

Liverpool made it 2-0 as Nunez hit the post, only for the ball to slam into the net off Matty Cash.

Mohamed Salah added a third to wrap up a comfortable Liverpool win, a third in the row in the Premier League.

Nunez didn’t get himself on the scoresheet as he endured a rather frustrating day in front of goal just a week since his brace at Newcastle United.

The Uruguayan had five shots but none of them were on target as he managed to hit the woodwork twice.

Nunez is just a constant threat but that end product still isn’t quite consistent enough.

Pundit and former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has now told BBC Sport that this was Nunez’s best performance yet.

“Darwin Nunez was as good as I’ve seen him,” said Osman, who was clearly impressed with the former Benfica man.

Darwin Nunez needs a run in the Liverpool team now

Nunez looked like he had turned a corner with two incredibly clinical finishes to win the game at Newcastle.

We didn’t quite see that ruthless streak from Nunez against Villa but the danger is there.

What we would like to see now is Nunez given a run as Liverpool’s central striker.

Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota provide Liverpool with other options through the middle but Nunez needs that chance now.

The 24-year-old clearly has so much quality in his locker and he will only find that if he is given the chance to play regularly.

Jurgen Klopp should keep Nunez in the team after the international break and trust that he will replicate that Newcastle performance moving forward.
