Pat Nevin has suggested that Bryan Gil would look ‘much better’ if he was on the same pitch as Harry Kane and Lucas Moura, as he told BBC Sport.

The former winger praised Gil for ‘looking good’ during Tottenham’s near-scare against League One side Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday.

When Gil went off the pitch, Spurs were losing 1-0 and Antonio Conte was bringing on his big guns to try and change the tide.

Both Kane and Moura made the difference and helped Spurs progress to the next round.

Even though a lot of talk and limelight was on a certain Tanguy Ndombele, it was a pretty decent afternoon’s work for Tottenham’s £22 million man (Sky Sports).

And Nevin suggested that he would look better if he had better quality around him on the pitch.

“I thought Gil looked good,” said Nevin. “He didn’t score and when he went it got better.

“If he had been on the pitch with Kane and Moura he would have looked much better.”

Tottenham will now turn their attention to League Cup action and trying to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Chelsea.

History suggests that those from Stamford Bridge will be making a trip to Wembley and Spurs have their work cut out to turn this one around.

When Gil came off the bench for the first leg clash, he looked very lively and he probably deserves a start on Wednesday.

But many of the players that started in the FA Cup, will probably find themselves warming the bench tomorrow night.
