As West Ham United suffered a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Newcastle United, Said Benrahma was slated by BBC pundit James Collins for his defending for Callum Wilson’s opening strike.

The England international went on to score a brace, as things went from bad to worse for David Moyes’ side and that too at the London Stadium.

BBC pundit James Collins, who used to play for West Ham United himself had no choice but to criticise Said Benrahma after Callum Wilson opened the scoring with a well-taken header for Newcastle United.

The £21.75 million [Football Transfers] man did not do much to stop the cross for the Magpies striker’s goal, as Allan Saint-Maximin found it easy to fizz in a pinpoint delivery into the box.

From there on in, Wilson did what he does best and opened the scoring.

As BBC pundit James Collins saw West Ham concede to Newcastle, he reserved special criticism for Said Benrahma.

“Terrible from West Ham, they got off to such a good start, high tempo, the fans were behind them. Benrahma’s defending to stop the cross from St-Maximin is shocking”, he said on BBC Sport.

“A man of Callum Wilson’s quality, you would expect him to score from there but from West Ham’s point of view it is terrible defending. David Moyes is absolutely furious with his team. That is a real killer blow for West Ham.”

Benrahma has to do better

BBC pundit James Collins was absolutely right about Said Benrahma, who cannot afford to be as lax as he was against Newcastle, knowing that West Ham are in a relegation scrap.

Switching off due to a lack of graft is likely to cost the Irons, who do not look too good to go down to say the least, which is why its high time he pulls his socks up.
