Garth Crooks says he still believes Wembley will be Tottenham Hotspur’s downfall.

Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that while he was impressed with Tottenham’s win away to Everton, he still believes playing at Wembley will be their downfall this season.

Spurs have won both their away games in the Premier League but have taken just one point from their two home games.

Former Spurs attacker Crooks says that fans of rivals Arsenal keep reminding him about Tottenham’s Wembley woes.

He said: “How can world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua have had more victories at Wembley than Tottenham this season? A line Arsenal fans take great delight in repeating to me every time they see me…

“While our neighbours may find hilarity in Tottenham’s relocation difficulties, it is becoming quite serious for Tottenham fans.”

Crooks added: “I agree with former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, who said that if Spurs had been playing at White Hart Lane this season they would be his tip for the Premier League title. They would be mine too.

“But they are not at the Lane this season and even with Eriksen pulling the strings, the signs don’t look great.”

Tottenham have a run of games upcoming which will enable them to end their Wembley hoodoo.

This week they kick off their Champions League campaign against Borussia Dortmund, which will be a tricky test but a big morale booster if they win.

Then in the Premier League they take on a Swansea City team at Wembley who have recorded just four points from four games – and a month later they host Bournemouth.

That’s two league games which look like gimme’s, and should end the taunts about their struggles.
