BBC pundit raves about one West Ham player as he predicts Arsenal result

West Ham United take on Arsenal at the London Stadium tonight.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks West Ham United will draw 1-1 at home with Arsenal in the Premier League this evening.

The Hammers finally picked up their first win under new manager David Moyes on Saturday afternoon, with Marko Arnautovic’s goal handing them a shock win over Chelsea.

That result has given fans renewed hope of a rise up the table under Moyes, who will now be looking to build on his first win since replacing Slaven Bilic last month.

It’s another London derby for West Ham tonight, as they host Arsenal at the London Stadium as they look to pick up another surprise win over a major rival.

Arsenal head into the game having only managed to draw 1-1 at Southampton on Sunday afternoon, with Olivier Giroud coming off the bench to rescue a point on the South Coast.

The Gunners sit 17 points behind league leaders Manchester City and already appear to be out of the title race, but manager Arsene Wenger will simply be looking to keep on winning.

Ahead of tonight’s game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks the two sides will play out a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium, giving the Hammers another positive result.

Lawrenson hailed West Ham star Michail Antonio, suggesting that he gives his side so much in terms of pace and physicality, and he believes the hard-working nature of West Ham’s recent displays means they will be hard to beat tonight.

“I thought West Ham did really well to hold on for their win against Chelsea because, watching the game, I thought they might have scored too early,” said Lawrenson. “It was a big game for David Moyes, who got his first win as West Ham boss in his fifth game in charge. I said after the Hammers lost out to a late Manchester City winner in their previous match that their performance had given them something to build on and they will have even more confidence now.”

“They also have Michail Antonio fit again, who gives them pace and movement up front as well as a physical presence, and as a team they are working hard and giving themselves the best possible chance in games. That is why I am backing them to get something out an Arsenal team who started slowly against Southampton on Sunday and ended up dropping more points,” he added.
