BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will play out a 1-1 draw at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

Spurs head into today’s game having drawn 1-1 away at Real Madrid in their midweek Champions League clash, but it’s back to Premier League action for Mauricio Pochettino this afternoon.

Pochettino saw his side beat Bournemouth 1-0 last weekend to claim their first league win at Wembley Stadium, and he will be hoping for another win at Tottenham’s temporary home this afternoon.

With Manchester United again dropping points for the second week in a row, Tottenham can move level on points with the Red Devils this afternoon, and they take on the team Jose Mourinho’s side drew with last week, Liverpool.

The Reds enjoyed a superb Champions League outing themselves, hammering Maribor 7-0 on Tuesday night, but Jurgen Klopp’s men face a much sterner test this afternoon.

Liverpool’s form has been patchy of late, losing one, drawn three and winning one of their last five Premier League games, with some frustrated at their inability to break down Manchester United last weekend.

Klopp will hope to cause problems at Wembley, given Tottenham’s less-than-impressive Premier League form there, but pundit Mark Lawrenson is predicting a 1-1 draw between the two sides.

Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thought Spurs were ‘very good’ against Real Madrid, and whilst he thinks Liverpool will score against them, he doesn’t think they will keep them out at the other end.

“It has been a good week for Tottenham, who broke their Wembley hoodoo in the Premier League by beating Bournemouth, and were very good against Real in their draw in Madrid in the Champions League” said Redknapp.

“Liverpool enjoyed themselves against Maribor on Tuesday but this is obviously going to be a much tougher game for them. It is going to be close. I can see the Reds scoring, but I don’t see them keeping Spurs out,” he added.
