BBC pundit predicts Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton and Hove Albion outcome

Tottenham Hotspur take on Brighton and Hove Albion this evening.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that the thinks Tottenham Hotspur will pick up a comfortable 2-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion this evening.

Spurs picked up a thumping 5-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men running riot to end a poor run of Premier League form.

Having picked up just two points in four Premier League games before beating Stoke, Tottenham had been struggling, but still remain 18 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

All Pochettino’s men can do is keep winning to try and close that gap, and they will be hoping to make it two home wins in a row when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion tonight.

The Seagulls lost 2-0 at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, leaving them just four points clear of the relegation zone as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.

Manager Chris Hughton returns to face the club he both played for and coached, and he will be hoping to spring a huge shock in North London this evening.

However, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham will pick up a convincing 2-0 win at Wembley Stadium tonight, backing them to pick up where they left off against Stoke.

Lawrenson thinks Brighton will try and be tighter at the back and must improve from Saturday’s defeat, but ultimately doesn’t think they have much of a chance.

“Tottenham put on a White Hart Lane performance at Wembley when they beat Stoke 5-1 on Saturday,” said Lawrenson. “They created so many chances which is something they have not done at home very often this season, other than their 4-1 win over Liverpool in October.”

“Brighton will look to tighten up after their defeat at Huddersfield at the weekend, and they will have to be much better than they were in that game. But I still only see one outcome for Seagulls boss Chris Hughton against the club he played at and coached at for years,” he added.
