Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this evening.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Manchester City will draw 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium this evening.
City picked up a 4-0 win over Swansea City in midweek, with David Silva’s brace helping them on the way to yet another victory.
The numbers surrounding City’s season are frankly absurd; it’s now a record-breaking 15 wins in a row, with 16 wins from 17 league games this season and just two points dropped.
Pep Guardiola’s men now lie 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and appear to be coasting towards the title having avoided defeat so far.
The next challengers are Tottenham Hotspur, as Mauricio Pochettino takes his side to the Etihad Stadium this evening in search of a surprise win.
Spurs endured a tricky spell of form after the international break, but they have won their last two games now, beating Stoke City 5-1 and Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Wembley Stadium over the last week.
Spurs may be in better spirits than they were a 10 days ago, but few are expecting them to hand City their first defeat of the season – though Mark Lawrenson is backing them to claim a 1-1 draw.
Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he feels it’s imperative that Spurs produce a strong performance, and he thinks that whilst City have been sensational, Tottenham can frustrate them and leave with a point tonight.
“It is really important for Tottenham that Mauricio Pochettino’s side acquit themselves well here,” said Lawrenson. “Spurs’ record under him in the big games, especially away from home, has been poor – just one win in 17.”
