West Ham United take on Huddersfield Town this afternoon.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that Huddersfield Town and West Ham United will draw 1-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium this afternoon.
Huddersfield head into the game having lost their last Premier League game 3-0 at Leicester City, and haven’t won in their last four league outings.
A 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup last weekend was a boost for manager David Wagner, as is the addition of new signing Alex Pritchard, who joined from Norwich City on Friday.
Huddersfield sit four points clear of the relegation zone but still need to pick up points, particularly at home, and especially against a relegation rival such as West Ham United.
The Terriers host West Ham at the John Smith’s Stadium this afternoon, and the Hammers sit two points shy of today’s hosts, meaning the three points up for grabs are vital for both teams.
David Moyes’ men could only muster a 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury Town in last week’s FA Cup clash, but they have won three of their last seven Premier League games, losing just once in that run.
West Ham are yet to bring in a January addition, but the improved form under Moyes means that the Hammers will be confident of claiming a positive result from today’s trip to West Yorkshire.
Ahead of today’s game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks West Ham will avoid defeat against Wagner’s men, predicting a 1-1 draw between the two sides.
“West Ham survived their FA Cup trip to Shrewsbury and have only lost one of their past seven league games too,” said Lawrenson. “They have won three of them, so David Moyes is on a good run at the moment.”
“Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham are the only teams to have beaten Huddersfield at home this season, but I just don’t see the Hammers losing here,” he added.
