Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester City to beat Everton 2-1.
Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton will lose 2-1 to Manchester City at Goodison Park this afternoon.
Everton head into the game having lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City in the FA Cup last weekend, and manager Ronald Koeman will be looking for a response today.
In the Premier League, Everton have been patchy of late. In their last ten games, the Toffees have won three, drawn four and lost four, with Koeman struggling to put together a run of results.
Morgan Schneiderlin in action for Manchester United
The Dutchman has already been busy in the transfer market though, as attacker Ademola Lookman has arrived from Charlton Athletic, before the Toffees splashed out to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United.
Schneiderlin could make his debut against United’s biggest rivals as Everton host Manchester City this afternoon, and Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t been in great form themselves.

City may have beaten West Ham 5-0 in the FA Cup last weekend, but it’s three defeats and four wins in their last seven Premier League games, with Guardiola’s side slipping off the pace in the pursuit of the title.
Today, City will be desperate to win, especially having endured such a frustrating 1-1 draw with Everton earlier this season, when Toffees goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg saved two City penalties.
Former Barcelona team-mates Koeman and Guardiola lock horns again today, and pundit Mark Lawrenson believes that City will claim a 2-1 victory.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport that he thinks the signing of Schneiderlin will have an impact on the crowd at Goodison Park, but not enough to give Everton the win over Guardiola’s men.
“Everton have already started their shopping in the January sales and I would expect one of their new signings, Morgan Schneiderlin, to go straight into their midfield on Sunday,” said Lawrenson. “Goodison Park will be rocking because it is City, and because Everton are signing some players. I am not sure the feel-good factor will be enough for them, though,” he added.
