Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor this afternoon.

Hosts Burnley head into the game sitting sixth in the Premier League table, as their stunning start to the season continues under Sean Dyche.

A 0-0 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend has kept up the strong start, and after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal, the Clarets sit just three points off the Champions League places.

Dyche is deservedly receiving praise for his work, and they head into the game sitting above opponents Tottenham by just a point.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side were hammered 4-1 away at Manchester City last weekend, and given that they now lie 21 points behind the league leaders, their title challenge appears to be over already.

Pochettino has various questions to answer right now, including questions over Dele Alli’s form, and he needs to get Spurs back to winning ways this afternoon.

Now, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he doesn’t think Spurs do particularly well when playing away from home against teams above them in the table, given their defeats at Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal this season.

However, Lawrenson feels that it may be ‘hiccup time’ for Burnley over the busy festive period, and is backing Spurs to claim a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor.

“Tottenham got battered by Manchester City last week and they don’t usually do well on the road against teams who are above them in the table,” said Lawrenson. “Burnley have been on such a good run but they were probably relieved to get a point at Brighton last week, and I just wonder if the festive period might be hiccup time for the Clarets,” he added.
