BBC pundit praises Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, has positive words for Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur won against Arsenal at White Hart Lane in the Premier League at the weekend.

Garth Crooks has praised Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen on BBC Sport.

Crooks was impressed with the performance of Eriksen for Tottenham against Arsenal in the North London derby at the weekend.

The 25-year-old started the Premier League game at White Hart Lane on Sunday evening and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Former Spurs forward Crooks was following the match, and he has included Eriksen in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.

“I said last week, after Spurs lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, that Christian Eriksen could see passes ordinary players couldn’t and execute them with alarming accuracy,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “What I saw against Arsenal in the north London derby was a player who had wonderfully quick feet as well.

“Spurs are looking exceptional at the moment and much of their quality is coming from the Dane. The gifts he is producing for Dele Alli and Harry Kane are just wonderful.”

Eriksen has scored eight goals and created 100 chances in 33 Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the Denmark international scored six goals and created 114 chances in 35 league games for Spurs.

Crooks has also suggested that Arsenal can still salvage their season if they finish in the top four of the Premier League and win the FA Cup.

“No doubt Arsenal fans will be feeling quite low at the moment but please note, it is not Arsene Wenger’s target to finish above Spurs but to win a trophy – preferably the Premier League title – and if not a trophy, then finish in a Champions League spot,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “With the FA Cup final to come, if I’m not mistaken, can’t Arsenal still do both?”

Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 60 points from 33 matches, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, who have played a game more.
