Garth Crooks picked Heung-Min Son in his Team of the Year for 2020 but he left out his Tottenham teammate Harry Kane, as he told BBC Sport.
Son was the only Tottenham player to make the all-star XI, with Crooks stating that the South Korea international has recovered well from his ‘nightmare moment’ against Everton in November 2019.
The incident in which Crooks is making reference to is when Son’s tackle seriously injured Andre Gomes at Goodison Park.
But Crooks praised the ‘electric’ £22 million Tottenham speedster [Mirror] for how he has bounced back since then and he believes Son is ‘very important’ in the club lifting silverware this season.
“Harry Kane may be the star of the show at Tottenham, but Son Heung-min makes my team of the year,” said Crooks. “This lad has been electric.
“His ability to run at defences, score spectacular goals and make things happen was the reason Spurs spent a brief time on top of the table.
“What a recovery from that nightmare moment in November 2019 when he inadvertently injured Everton’s Andre Gomes. The incident affected Son, but he soon recovered.
“The South Korea international has not looked back since that fateful afternoon and has a very important role to play if Tottenham are to lift a trophy this season.”

Well, one piece of silverware isn’t far off because Tottenham are in the semi-finals of the League Cup where they will play Championship side Brentford.
Whilst the possession-based London outfit have knocked out Premier League opposition, most recently Newcastle, Spurs should still progress to the final.
If they can do that then Jose Mourinho is in his own playground and he can do his thing in regards to ending the club’s 12 year trophy drought.
