Everton are reportedly keen on Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Pundit and former Everton winger Pat Nevin has told BBC Sport that he thinks Toffees target Gylfi Sigurdsson is a ‘fabulous player’ – and suggested he would pay the huge asking price.
Sigurdsson, 27, has thrived with Swansea ever since returning to the club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2014, cementing his place as one of the Premier League’s top playmakers.
The Icelandic international hit nine goals and 13 assists in a struggling Swansea side last season, and his performances for the Swans appear to have attracted major interest.

The Guardian reported on Tuesday that Everton are determined to sign Sigurdsson this summer despite Swansea slapping a huge £50million asking price on the midfielder’s head.
With Everton splashing the cash on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney, Swansea may well be concerned that the Toffees will pay big money to prise Sigurdsson away from the Liberty Stadium.
That would take Everton’s summer spending to well over £100million, and former Toffees winger Pat Nevin has offered his thoughts on a potential move to Sigurdsson.
Nevin has told BBC Sport that he thinks Sigurdsson is a ‘fabulous player’, and can make a difference in any team, given that he can provide a piece of class – something that ultimately saw him play a huge role in Swansea’s survival.
Nevin added that the £40million to £50million price tag being mentioned is ‘stupid’, but he could fire Everton to the Champions League, and that would make it money well spent for Ronald Koeman.

“I think he’s a fabulous player… £40-50m? Yes, it’s a stupid amount of money,” said Nevin. “But if he goes and gets you into the Champions League, well that will not seem like a daft amount of money.”
“There’s a few of us out there that think this guy’s extra special and can give you that one thing, that one piece of class that you need to make yourself different from the rest. Sigurdsson gets a game wherever he goes and looks perfectly good in any team you put him in, he’s a fabulous player and I think he single-handedly kept his club up last season,” he added.
