Tottenham Hotspur blew Bournemouth away at the weekend as they eased to a 4-0 win.

It was the second league game in a row Spurs had netted four goals, following a similar rout over Watford the previous weekend.

BBC pundit Mark Schwarzer, formerly of Chelsea, was quoted by Tottenham’s official website praising the team, but also criticising them as wasteful, adding that even head coach Mauricio Pochettino was getting frustrated.

““I thought Spurs were impressive from start to finish. They had the right application and right mindset from the beginning. They didn’t give Bournemouth a chance in the game and put them under pressure right from the off.

“The one thing I’d say is that Spurs weren’t perhaps as clinical as they could be. I could see Mauricio Pochettino getting a bit frustrated at times on the touchline and I can understand that, because there were times in the game where the team was wasteful in front of goal. However, having said that, 4-0 is still a very convincing scoreline.”

Four goals was an impressive margin, but looking at the number of attempts Tottenham had, Schwarzer has a valid point.

Spurs had 24 shots on goal, with 14 landing on target. Bournemouth by contrast had just five shots, and one on target.

The fact Mousa Dembele and Vincent Janssen got on the scoresheet was welcome, along with Son and Kane – who had five shots each.

Christian Eriksen was Tottenham’s most wasteful player with six shots and only two on target, but he did manage to provide an assist.
