Tottenham Hotspur are not in great form in the Premier League at the moment.

Danny Murphy has told BBC Sport that it would be foolish to write off Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham are fifth in the league table at the moment with 20 points from 10 matches, just three points behind leaders Manchester City.

The North London outfit have a good squad, but their recent results and performances have not been great.

With City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in great form at the moment, there is a chance that Tottenham could fall behind if results do not improve soon.

Former Spurs midfielder Murphy has stated that Mauricio Pochettino’s side can recover their form and challenge for the league title.

“You learn the most from the bad spells you go through as a team and, from watching them play over the last year or two, I know the Spurs players have got the hunger and desire to improve and get through this,” Murphy told BBC Sport. “There is enough quality in their squad for them to do it too.

“It would be foolish to write them off because we could be sitting here in a month’s time saying how well they have done to turn things around, and look where they are now.”

Tottenham do have some very good players, such as Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela.

Harry Kane has been a massive miss for Spurs, as the England international striker is their main goalscorer.

Despite Spurs’ recent results and performances, they are only three points off the pace, and this should be encouraging.

Tottenham will take on Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
