Tottenham Hotspur have used a variety of tactics and formations so far this season.

Speaking on BBC 1’s broadcast of Spurs’ FA Cup tie with Fulham at 13:54 on Sunday February 19th, pundit and former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas offered his opinion on Mauricio Pochettino’s recent experimentation with different formations.
The Argentine has switched back and forth between two separate formations this term, and many would argue that their 3-4-2-1 system has yielded more success than when they have played a flat back four.
And Jenas, who spent seven-and-a-half years at White hart Lane, shared what he believes was the reason behind Pochettino switching to three centre-backs in the first place, when speaking live on BBC 1’s broadcast of Fulham vs Tottenham:
“When he went to a three at the back, I really enjoyed it, and I don’t think he went to a three for defensive reasons, I think he went to a three for attacking reasons, because you get width. It allows Eriksen, Kane and Dele Alli to play a lot closer to each other. And when they are very close, beautiful things happen.”

The Lilywhites currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, albeit a distant 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and they have earned high praise and respect for the manner in which they have played so far this term.
But one suspects that if they are to have any chance of catching Antonio Conte’s men, Pochettino will have to settle on one system in particular, and stick with it, to help develop a sense of continuity amongst the side.
