Pundit Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he was impressed with Kyle Walker and Heung-min Son during Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Stoke City.

Tottenham hadn’t really impressed before facing Stoke despite picking up five points from their first three games of the campaign, but they were close to their best against Stoke on Saturday.

South Korean winger Heung-min Son was making his first appearance of the season, and showed why Spurs were right to keep him in the race of transfer rumours as he scored Tottenham’s first two goals against Stoke.

England internationals Dele Alli and Harry Kane then scored their first goals of the season to seal the win, and give Mauricio Pochettino to 4-0 wins over Stoke inside five months.

Many Spurs players impressed as they turned in their most dominant display of the season, and former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks has picked up two stars who particularly impressed him.

Crooks named both Kyle Walker and two-goal hero Son in his Premier League team of the week on BBC Sport, raving about Walker’s pace and attacking ability down the right hand side, suggesting that his performance against Stoke bodes well for Tottenham’s Champions League campaign.

Crooks also praised Son for scoring a ‘wonder goal’ in the second half, but says he has no intention of viewing Spurs as title contenders after the way they collapsed at the end of last season.

“The speed at which Walker raced forward to support the Spurs attack was tremendous but it was also the ease and composure he showed when he gently stroked the ball for Alli to finish that really made me take note. I’ve seen Walker in this mood before and it bodes well for Tottenham’s fortunes in the Champions League.

“I must say I thought Son’s first goal was a bit opportunistic but his second was a wonder goal. Last season Spurs tore Stoke apart by four goals to nil, looked full of enterprise and guile and got us all talking about how they were title contenders. Well, I have no intention of falling for that again,” he added.
