Leeds United failed to win against Newcastle United in the Championship on Friday evening.
Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Sport that he was impressed with the performance of Robert Green for Leeds United against Newcastle United on Friday evening.
Green featured for Leeds in the Championship game against Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Whites played out a 1-1 draw with the Magpies.
The former Queens Park Rangers custodian played well for Leeds and made a number of saves to keep the visiting team in the game.
Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Green.
“Rob Green has kept Leeds in so many games this season and he was making reaction save after reaction save,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “He gave Leeds a lifeline – thanks to him, they could go on to get a point.”
Green has the tendency to make mistakes, but overall he is a very good goalkeeper who has played well for Leeds so far this season.
The former Norwich City and West Ham United custodian has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road.
Leeds will return to action on Monday evening when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road in the Championship.
