Sunderland are struggling in the Premier League at the moment.
Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks has mocked Sunderland players on BBC Sport.
Crooks has stated that the Sunderland players should know that playing football for a living is better than working in a car factor.
Sunderland manager David Moyes took his players to the local Nissan factory last week.
“I want them to go away and realise how lucky they are,” the Scotsman told The Mirror. “How they have a talent, and not to waste it — hang on and fight for everything you can.
“For all we have pressure that goes with not doing well, all these boys on the factory-floor would love to be running out there at Bournemouth on Saturday.”
Sunderland won against Bournemouth at the weekend, getting the better of the Cherries 2-1 away from home at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The win has given the Black Cats hope of survival in the English top flight.
Former Tottenham and West Bromwich Albion forward Crooks has mocked the Sunderland players, suggesting that they should have already known that being a footballer is much better than working in a car factor.
“Sunderland boss David Moyes said the club’s visit to a local factory was enough to galvanise the squad into realising playing football for a living was considerably better than that line of work,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport. “What, they’ve only just worked that out?”
Sunderland are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just five points from 11 matches.
The Black Cats are currently six points behind 17th-placed West Ham United and are very much in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.
