Michael Brown has given his verdict on whether or not Manchester United should sell Casemiro in the summer transfer window.
The former Manchester City midfielder and BBC Sport pundit has also had his say on United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
So, what has Michael Brown said about Manchester United duo Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo? Let’s take a look.
Manchester United urged to sell Casemiro
Well, former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown has said that if Manchester United get a good offer for Casemiro at the end of the season, then Ineos, who will soon be running the football department once Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership of 25% of the club is formally approved by the Premier League, should cash in on him.
The BBC Sport pundit has also praised the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo.

Brown told BBC Sport: “Mainoo’sgoing really well at the moment. But obviously he needs to be getting more game time, getting involved in goals and and just getting on the ball more, growing in confidence, driving through the middle of the pitch.
“Casemiro a great mentor to have and obviously one of the best ever, just by looking at his record of Champions League wins. I was at the game at the weekend and it’s great to see the combination.
“But ultimately if there’s a strong bid for him, especially when you mention other countries are looking at him, you could take that money and then really go to strengthen again.
“They will be looking to do that all over the pitch because they’ve got to catch up. They’re very, very inconsistent and are finding it tougher away from home so getting results you don’t expect.
“There will have to be big decisions from the new ownership and the manager, who is going to be key to how they turn that around. If the money is right and the player wants to go, then you’ve got to say it might be the right time.”
My View: Manchester United should not be hasty about Casemiro
In my opinion, Manchester United should not rush into selling Casemiro in the summer transfer window. I think that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners have to weigh the pros and cons.
Casemiro is 31 now. He is clearly not the player he was at Real Madrid. While the Brazil international defensive midfielder is still a good player, he is not as formidable as he once was.
However, Casemiro has a wealth of experience. He has still given some very good performances during his time at Old Trafford so far.
True, the 31-year-old has not been consistently great, but he is still a player who can make a difference to the United team.
United paid Madrid £60 million for Casemiro in the summer of 2022. If the Red Devils are able to recoup that transfer fee by selling him at the end of the season, then, yes, cash in on him.
However, United should not sell the £350,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder for something like £30 million or £35 million.
Yes, Kobbie Mainoo is an emerging talent and could get a new contract, but he is only 18 now. United cannot rely on the teenager week after week.
They will have to find a suitable replacement for Casemiro, and I do not think that they will get a world-class defensive midfielder for anything less than £50 million.
