Everton take on Bournemouth at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton will beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Everton head into the game having claimed a 1-1 draw against Stoke City in midweek, with Ryan Shawcross’ own goal from a Seamus Coleman cross handing the Toffees a point after Peter Crouch had opened the scoring.

That draw means that Everton have dropped just two points in 2017, and have won four of their last six Premier League games, with their last league defeat coming against Liverpool on December 19th.

Ronald Koeman’s men are really beginning to impress, and they will be hoping to continue their fine form against a Bournemouth side who have, conversely, failed to shine so far in 2017.

Eddie Howe’s men lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening, meaning it’s now four league games without a victory, and no wins since the turn of the year.

As if the Cherries weren’t struggling enough, they have been handed another blow as striker Callum Wilson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, meaning Howe will have to shuffle his pack this weekend.

Ahead of the game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has offered his prediction to BBC Sport, suggesting that Everton will win the game 2-0 to continue their impressive start to 2017.

Lawrenson noted that the midweek point at Stoke was a ‘good result’ for Everton having had to scrap for their point, whilst the former Liverpool ace is also concerned about Bournemouth’s dismal run of form.

“Everton had to scrap a bit to get a point at Stoke but that goes down as a good result no matter how you get it,” said Lawrenson. “Bournemouth, meanwhile, lost at home to Palace and it is becoming very difficult to predict their results.”

“After getting a draw against Arsenal at the start of January, they have taken a total of one point from three games against other teams in the bottom half – Hull, an out-of-form Watford and then the Eagles. I don’t see the Cherries getting anything at Goodison Park, where Everton have only lost once in 11 league games this season, but I am usually wrong about them,” he added.
