Everton take on Burnley in the Premier League this afternoon.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton will beat Burnley 2-1 at Goodison Park this afternoon.

The Toffees have endured a disappointing start to the season, and they were even booed off the pitch by their own fans in the 2-2 Europa League draw with Apollon Limassol on Thursday night.

Ronald Koeman desperately needs a run of positive results, and he will be looking for a second Premier League win in a row after relying on two Oumar Niasse goals to beat Bournemouth 2-1 last weekend.

Niasse, 27, was completely frozen out before hitting three goals in his last two competitive games, and the Senegal international could start this afternoon having been unavailable for the Europa League game against Apollon Limassol.

Today, Everton take on Sean Dyche’s Burnley side, who have lost just once in the Premier League this season, and are yet to lose away from home.

A win over Chelsea followed up with draws at Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have seen Burnley make a strong start to the season despite tricky results, and Dyche will be hoping for another impressive away day.

Ahead of today’s game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has offered his view to BBC Sport, predicting a 2-1 home win for Everton despite their recent struggles.

Lawrenson is fascinated to see whether Koeman picks Niasse to lead his attack, given that he deserves a start after so long on the sidelines, and he is predicting that Burnley’s unbeaten away run will come to an end today.

“It will be interesting to see who Everton manager Ronald Koeman picks up front, because Oumar Niasse deserves a start after rescuing them with two goals against Bournemouth,” said Lawrenson.

“Burnley are still unbeaten on the road but I just get the feeling the Toffees will continue their improvement and get another home win,” he added.
