Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Watford will ease past West Ham United with a 2-0 win this evening.

Watford head into today’s game having enjoyed a two-week break, with the Hornets already out of the FA Cup after a defeat to Millwall in the fourth round.

Walter Mazzarri’s men have had plenty of rest, and will be hoping to build on a decent run of form, even though they lost their last game 2-0 away at Manchester United.

The Hornets had picked up two draws and two wins in their four previous games, with Mazzarri gradually dragging the club away from the relegation zone.

The same can be said for Slaven Bilic at West Ham United, as after a disappointing first half of the season, the Hammers appear to have turned a corner.

West Ham – who also had last week off with no FA Cup commitments – sit 10th in the Premier League table, three places and two points above Watford, having won six of their last ten games.

The Hammers will be hoping to continue their decent form of late, and will hope to respond having given away a late goal to draw 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion last time out.

Ahead of this evening’s game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has offered his verdict to BBC Sport, suggesting that Watford will win 2-0 – a much more straightforward win than their victory over West Ham earlier this season, in which they won 4-2 having been 2-0 at the London Stadium.

“Watford have had their wobble and, like West Ham, I think their relegation worries are over,” said Lawrenson. “The Hornets mounted a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to beat the Hammers at the London Stadium earlier in the season, but this should be a more straightforward win for them,” he added.
