Garth Crooks hits out at Liverpool’s left-back problem.
Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno concedes a penalty against Arsenal’s Theo Walcott
Former footballer Garth Crooks has told The BBC that he make no apology for saying Liverpool could be relegated if they play Alberto Moreno at right-back.
Crooks made the comments a week earlier in light of their 4-3 win against Arsenal, in which Moreno defender terribly, giving away a penalty as well as being caught out of position for Theo Walcott’s opener.

Moreno was dropped for the trip to Burnley but his replacement James Milner fared little better.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “Last week, I said that if they didn’t replace Moreno at left-back they would get relegated. I make no apology for the exaggerated remark because the point needed to be made. However, putting square pegs in round holes or, to be more precise, James Milner in that position does not solve the problem either.
“A club like Liverpool should not be struggling in this department; neither should they be losing to teams like Burnley.”

The warning signs over Moreno were there for Klopp last season, particularly in the Europa League final, and if Milner’s disappointing display as a stand in forces his hand in the transfer market, then it is a positive they can take in defeat.
There is just over a week left before the transfer window closes and Liverpool cannot afford to hang about, and allow their left-back issues to cast a shadow over what could be a promising season.
The Reds could be entertaining to watch this season, but their problems will not make them easy viewing for supporters at times.
